About VERGEIT LTD

A software company founded on the principle that engineers should own what they build.

VERGEIT LTD was established in London by engineers who had spent years watching good technical work undone by poor communication, weak ownership and misaligned expectations. We built this company to do things differently — with directness, responsibility and genuine follow-through as core working standards.

Our story

Built by engineers, run for the people who rely on software to work.

VERGEIT began with a small team of senior engineers who had come through agency work, in-house engineering roles and startup environments. The experience shared across the team was consistent: the gap between what software should do and what it actually delivers almost always comes down to how projects are managed, communicated and owned — not the underlying technology.

We set out to build a software company where the people writing the code are also the people talking to clients, making architecture decisions, setting timelines and standing behind the results. No layers. No translation loss. No finger-pointing when something needs to be fixed.

Since establishing ourselves in London, we have grown into a team of senior engineers working across the full stack, with a consistent focus on enterprise applications, custom software products and complex system integrations. Our clients range from founder-led businesses to established enterprises across logistics, financial services, healthcare, retail and professional services.

We are based at Blakes Road in Peckham, South London — close enough to our clients to meet in person when it matters, experienced enough to work effectively with teams across the UK and internationally.

The perspective behind the company

Why we started with principles, not a service list.

When we founded VERGEIT, the first thing we wrote was not a list of technologies we work with or a pricing model. It was a set of working principles. These were the behaviours we had watched successful engineering relationships depend on — and the ones most commonly missing from the engagements that went wrong.

We wrote them down because we intended to be accountable to them. Not as a marketing statement, but as the actual standard by which clients can evaluate us. The principles have not changed since we wrote them. They are the reason the majority of our clients continue to work with us on subsequent projects, and the reason we still get introductions from clients we delivered for four and five years ago.

The most important of these principles is straightforward: the engineer responsible for a project can be named, can be reached and can answer for the decisions made. Everything else — quality, communication, reliability — follows from that.

"Software done well should feel straightforward to the people who need it. If a client has to fight to understand what we have built or why we built it that way, we have failed them — regardless of how technically impressive the result might be."

Our team

The people you will actually work with.

VERGEIT is a team of senior engineers with backgrounds spanning full-stack web development, systems architecture, API engineering, DevOps and technical consulting. We deliberately stay lean. A smaller team of highly capable people who communicate well delivers better work than a larger team with distributed ownership and diffuse accountability.

Each project is led by a named senior engineer who is responsible for technical quality, client communication and delivery. Supporting engineers are brought in based on the specific demands of the project — but the lead engineer remains consistent throughout. You are not passed between teams.

We invest in the clarity of our own thinking as much as in our technical skills. That means writing well, explaining decisions in plain language, running honest retrospectives and accepting critical feedback as useful information rather than a threat. The best engineers we have worked with share this quality. It is what we hire for.

Ownership Culture

Every engineer on a project owns their contribution entirely. No shared blame, no diffuse responsibility.

Direct Communication

We say what we think. Including when timelines are tight, requirements are unclear or expectations need adjusting.

Continuous Learning

The technology landscape moves. We stay current through genuine practice, not conference attendance.

Client Respect

We treat clients as intelligent adults who deserve honest information, not managed reassurance.

Why clients trust us

What makes a software company worth trusting.

We put things in writing.

Scope, decisions, timelines and changes are documented and returned to clients in writing. Nothing important exists only in a conversation.

We raise problems early.

When something is not going to plan, we say so immediately and with a proposed path forward. We do not wait for the end of a sprint to raise a risk that appeared on day two.

We decline work we cannot do well.

We have turned down projects because the timeline was not realistic or the brief was too unclear. It is a better outcome for both sides than a difficult delivery.

We stay available after delivery.

Our post-delivery support is not a line item on a contract. It is a genuine commitment to the software we build continuing to work as intended.

Work with us

If you are looking for an engineering team that takes responsibility, let us have a conversation.

We work best with clients who have a clear problem to solve and want a direct working relationship with the people solving it. If that describes your situation, we would like to hear from you.
